FAQs

Questions, Answered

Everything people ask before a first session, from what to wear to how the packs work. If your question is not here, call or email and Chrissy will answer it herself.

Getting started

Is Pilates good for beginners?

Yes. Every session is built around what your body can do today, and the reformer’s springs are set for you rather than for a class average. Many clients arrive having never done Pilates, and several started while recovering from an injury or after having a baby.

What happens in a first session?

The first session is about how your body moves. Chrissy asks what brought you in and what you want from the work, watches how you move, and sets the reformer for you. You leave knowing what the next sessions will work on.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in. Grip socks are worn for private sessions; bring your own or pick up a pair in the studio store.

I’m coming back from an injury or surgery. Can I still come?

Yes, and many clients do: after a knee replacement, a new baby, a rod in the spine, or on a referral from their physical therapist. Tell Chrissy what is going on before the first session and the work starts from what your body can do today. The studio is not a medical practice, so keep your own clinicians in the loop.

Why is Pilates so expensive?

A private session is one instructor, one reformer and one person for the whole session, so the price reflects that attention rather than a room of twenty. Sessions start at $60 for 25 minutes, and the ten-session packs bring the per-session price down to $54 or $90. Every rate is on the pricing page.

How often should I take Pilates to see results?

Most people feel a difference in posture and core control after a few weeks of one or two sessions a week. Strength and flexibility build over two to three months of consistent practice, which is what the ten-session packs are designed around.

Sessions and pricing

What’s the difference between 25 and 50 minutes?

Twenty-five minutes is focused work on one or two things, a good weekly habit and a low-commitment way to start. Fifty minutes allows a full progression. Plenty of clients start at 25 and lengthen once they know what they want from the work.

Can two of us split a duet session?

That’s exactly what it’s for. A duet is $120 for 50 minutes with two people on two reformers, $60 each, the same as a 25-minute private session, with double the time on the machine.

Do the 10-session packs expire?

Yes, one year from the date of purchase. That’s $540 for ten 25-minute sessions and $900 for ten 50-minute sessions.

Can I switch between 25 and 50 minute sessions?

Single sessions are booked one at a time, so you can change length whenever you like. A 10-session pack is tied to one session length, so pick the one you expect to book most often.

How do I pay?

Packages are bought on the pricing page through WellnessLiving, which handles the studio’s scheduling and payments. Single sessions are paid when you book in the calendar on the appointments page.

Booking

How do I book?

Through the live calendar on the appointments page: choose the service, pick a time, and you’re booked. WellnessLiving asks you to sign in or create a free account first, which keeps your bookings and purchases in one place.

Do you offer group reformer classes?

Where is the studio?

What equipment is in the studio?

Two Balanced Body reformers with small props, in a small studio Chrissy runs on her own.

Classes, training and nutrition

Where is the Mat Pilates class, and how do I join?

The class is held at Lenox Fit and taught by Chrissy. Class times and booking run through Lenox Fit, not the studio’s calendar. Read more on the classes page.

Does Chrissy offer personal training?

Yes, inside Lenox Fit. Personal training is booked through Lenox Fit as well.

What is nutrition education?

A one-on-one session with Chrissy as a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist: balanced eating, portioning and the role nutrition plays in your goals, evidence-based and built around how you actually live. Sessions are 25 or 50 minutes and are booked like any other session.

How do the supplements work?

Chrissy keeps an online dispensary on Fullscript, where clients order professional-grade supplements at a client discount. The details are on the supplements page.
